MediaKiosk Makes a Splash at Gamescom Cologne

Thousands of gamers are excited about the new games distribution technology!

Germany, 30.08.2009.

With a record 245,000 visitors at Gamescom this year, the show was the largest of its kind in the world. This gave amply opportunity for retailers, the press, and the gamers themselves to familiarize themselves with the technology. “Ich finde es toll,” (“It’s cool,”), “Nicht schlecht” (“Not bad at all!”) and “Groβartig” (“Awesome!”) were a few of the more frequently heard responses.

Although the businessmen expressed themselves less colloquially, their reaction was in many ways similar. The MediaKiosk team met with representatives from more than 100 companies of the 450 in attendance. The companies came from a wide international spectrum- retailers from Greece visited alongside American game developers, and Dutch publishers.

The contacts made, and meetings set up at Gamescom will prove essential to MediaKiosk’s continued development. What next? The MK team is currently readying themselves for the Retail Business Russia Exposition, to be held between September 10 and 11th, in Moscow.

The most frequently asked questions by visitors to the stand also provide a clue to where MediaKiosk is heading. “When will it be available in Germany?” many wanted to know, in addition to, “Can I buy something here right now?”

MediaKiosk is an Automatic Content Store with interactive capacities. In development since 2006, it permits for the immediate delivery of multiple forms of digital content from a three-panel touch screen terminal. The content is then printed directly to CD or DVD, which is protected against piracy. MediaKiosk is currently owned by IQ Investment, a Russian-based company with a branch in Berlin.
