MediaKiosk to showcase digital entertainment kiosk at gamescom
Automatic Game Store will be shown in Cologne for the 2009 Expo
Gamescom '09 offers GameExpress a stage to highlight its move one step
closer to servicing consumer needs efficiently and personally. The
Automatic Game Store is premised on consolidation of information and
convenience. By synthesizing consumer reviews, game demos, screen shots,
and general information, GameExpress combines a wealth of material in a
single touch-screen interface. Rather than pin-balling between the
internet and the back of a game box, gamers now deal with only one
service point- open, unlike physical retails stores, 24/7.
Other aspects of the machine that the company hopes to focus on at the
expo include the elimination of the risk of overstocking, as well as the
need for pre-packaged inventory. At gamescom 2009, GameExpress will
convey how its unique mechanism can fill the gap between an increasingly
self-service-oriented consumer spectrum, and a time-lag in the gaming
retail sector. The company is additionally looking to add Wifi as a
download option. The Automatic Game Store offers the opportunity for
retailers, at which 90% of personal entertainment is still sold, to play
catch-up and for Europe to get a taste of how things could be.
“What we’re really doing,” said head of the European office Dmitry
Neumann, “is establishing a personal pipeline for digital entertainment.
We’re pumping digital content right into consumers’ hands, but also
expanding the digital content market but minimizing piracy.”
The GameExpress stand at the exposition will feature a fully functional
kiosk, along with representatives from the Berlin branch of the office.
More importantly, however, gamescom 2009 will expose over 300
representatives from 125 different countries to a technology the fuses
the physical and digital. Several meetings have already been scheduled
with major retailers and publishers attending. GameExpress can be found
at gamescom in Hall 9.1, stand B025.
GameExpress is an Automatic Game Store with interactive capacities. In
development since 2006, it permits for the immediate delivery of
multiple forms of digital content from a three panel-touch screen
terminal. The content is then printed directly to CD or DVD, which is
protected against piracy. GameExpress is currently owned by IQ
Investment, a Russian-based company with a branch in Berlin.
